Location: Amethyst is most commonly found in South America, Africa and North America.
History: it is reported that Amethyst jewellery dates as far back as 2000BC and was one of 12 stones that represented the 12 tribes of Israel. Other legends tell accounts of st valentine and his cupid carved Amethyst ring. The ancient of Greece proclaimed that their god Dionysus was the first to discover the stone, but to this day we are unsure of its original discovery, some records state it was discovered in France 25,000 years ago.
